½ c. shortening
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
1/3 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp/ ginger
½ tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sour milk (or buttermilk [better])
2 c. blueberries

Directions:
Directions:
Follow directions for “Alice Castro’s Gingerbread,” alternate adding dry ingredients and milk (begin and end with dry ingredients - 4 dry; 3 milk). Wash and drain blueberries well. Dust them with flour and fold into batter. Bake 50 min. at 350 degrees in a 9 x 9 inch pan. Serve plain with whipped cream, or cream cheese and sugar frosting [8 oz. cream cheese, ½ c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, a dribble of milk -- beat until smooth.
