2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 T. baking powder
4 c. flour

FROSTING:
1/2 stick butter
3 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
5 T. milk
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

In a medium bowl, beat together sugar and margarine. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. In a separate bowl stir soda into buttermilk. In a third bowl, mix together dry ingredients: salt, baking powder, and flour. Add the buttermilk mixture alternately with dry ingredients into the sugar/butter. Mix until well blended. Drop by spoonful onto parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool before frosting.

To Make Frosting: Beat together butter, sugar and vanilla. Gradually add milk until frosting reaches spreading consistency.
