2 tbsp. Vegetable or Olive Oil
1 Med Diced Onion
1 1/2 LBS Lean Ground Beef
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. Basil *
1/2 tsp. oregano *
1/4 tsp. marjoram *
1/2 tsp. ground fennel seed
1 small can tomato paste (3 oz?)
1 small can tomato sauce
1 10 oz can diced tomatoes
1 cup of water
1 lbs Italian sausage (Optional)
1 lbs spaghetti

* She also liked to use the commercial Italian seasoning for convenience

Directions:
Saute the onion in oil until tender, add beef and brown, breaking up the beef into small bits. Add spices and tomatoes along with the water. Cover and simmer, stirring regularly to keep the bottom from burning for about an hour until it starts to thicken. Add the Italian sausage after 1/2 hour if desired. It will become a smooth sauce and you'll know when its ready. Now hurry up and cook the pasta and try not to burn the garlic bread.
