1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1 - 11oz can mandarin oranges, drained
1 egg

Topping: 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp butter or oleo, cubed.
2 tbsp milk
3/4 cup flaked coconut

Mix sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Add oranges and egg: beat for 2 minutes. Pour into greased 8 in sq. baking pan. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Cool on wire rack for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile iin saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and milk. Bring to boil stir occasionally. Cook and stir for 2 min or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; stir in coconut. Pour over warm cake. Broil 6 in from heat for 1-2 min or until top is browned.
