1/2 c. butter dash salt
1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla 1/3 c. milk
4 egg yolks
1 c. flour

Meringue Top:
4 stiff egg whites
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts

Frosting:
1/3 c. cocoa
3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. whipping cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the cake batter to make 2 8 inch layers. It won't look like enough batter, but you will be adding the meringue to it before baking. Add the meringue top to each layer, and bake at 300º for 1 hr. When cool, frost with the whipped cream frosting.
