24 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
1/2 gal. brick-style vanilla ice cream, softened
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. sugar
1 c. chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla

In a large bowl, combine crushed cookies and 1/4 c. melted butter; mix well. Press lightly in bottom of ungreased 9x13 in. pan. Cut ice cream into 1 in. thick slices or let soften enough to work with. Place over cookies. Spread ice cream to cover completely. Sprinkle with nuts and freeze. In medium saucepan, mix all remaining ingredients for topping and bring to a boil over medium-low heat. Cook 8 minutes from time it starts to boil; stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla, cool 1 hour. This mixture should be thick. Pour topping over ice cream filling. Cover and freeze until firm.
