2 c. mayo
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 head lettuce, shredded
2 med. red onions, sliced
1 to 2 green peppers, sliced
3 to 4 ribs celery, chopped
10 oz. frozen green peas, uncooked
1 sm. can sliced water chestnuts, drained (optional)
1 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese (or combine w/ Parmesan cheese)
3 to 4 hard boiled eggs, sliced
4 to 5 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled (or use Bacon Bits)
1 to 2 tomatoes, sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Layer in bowl in order, beginning w/ lettuce: red onions, peppers, celery, and peas. Spread mayo and sugar mixture over top layer. Sprinkle w/ cheese. DO NOT STIR. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours. Before serving, garnish with eggs, bacon, and tomatoes. VARIATION: Use 2 c. Hidden Valley salad dressing instead of mayo and sugar.
