1/2 cup butter, softened (use real butter)
1/2 cup BF crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/4 baking soda
2 1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light-colored and fluffy. Beat in molasses and eggs. Put dry ingredients in same bowl as sugars, etc. and stir them together with a fork so they're blended. Then use mixer to mix wet and dry ingredients together.
Roll dought into 1 1/2" balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Bake at 350º for 11 minutes. Don't overbake. I usually cook them until they start cracking a little around the edges.
