6 c. chicken broth
3 c. canned fresh tomatoes
2 T. chopped parsley
1 c. chopped celery
4 T. margarine
1 c. chopped sweet green pepper
1 hot pepper, chopped (optional)
3 large onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen okra or 1 lb. fresh okra, cut into 3/4 inch lengths
1 lb. shrimp, cleaned and cut in halves
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen Alaskan crab
6 to 8 drops of Tabasco sauce

Put first 4 ingredients in a large kettle; heat. Meanwhile, saute pepper, onions, garlic and okra butter until softened. Do not brown. Add mixture to hot broth. Add rest of ingredients except seafood and Tabasco sauce. Let simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Fifteen minutes before serving, add seafood and Tabasco sauce to gumbo. Heat to blend flavors. May be served in bowls or over rice.
