1 3/4 c. boiling water poured over
1 1/2 c. Quaker oats
Let stand 20 minutes.
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugars. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oatmeal mixture and blend well. Sift all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Bake at 350º in a well greased 9x13 pan.

Topping:

1/3 c. butter, melted
3/4 c. brown sugar
4 T. sweetened condensed milk
1/2 c. nuts
1 c. coconut

Mix and pour on hot cake. Put under broiler till bubbly.
