1 boneless beef rump roast
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large sweet onion (cut into 1/4 inch slices)
6 tbsp of butter
5 cups of water
1/2 soy sauce
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 garlic clove
1tsp browning sauce
1 loaf French bread
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, brown roast on all sides in oil,drain. In a large skillet,saute onions in 2 tbsp of butter until tender. Add the water, soy sauce, soup mix, garlic and browning sauce if desired. Stir until well mixed then pour over roast. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 2 1/2 hours. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Once sliced, return meat to pan with juices. Slice bread in half lengthwise, then cut into 3-in sections. Spread remaining butter over bread, place on a baking sheet and broil 4-6 inches from the heat for 2-3 min. or until golden brown. Top with beef and onions, then sprinkle with cheese and broil 4-6 inches from heat until cheese melts. Serve with pan juiceš
