Angel Biscuit Recipe

1 package yeast
½ cup tepid water
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon soda
3 cups flour
5 tablespoons oil or softened butter
5 tablespoons sugar
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Proof the yeast in the ½ cup tepid water. I always add a squirt of honey or some sugar to the water. If the yeast starts bubbling it’s still good.

Mix all the other ingredients together and then add the yeast/water mixture. Mix well and give it a quick kneading. Put in an oiled bowl and turn the bread so the oily side is up. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise. When it has doubled in size punch it down and put it in a covered container in the refrigerator. When you need biscuits put some of the dough on a floured surface and roll or pat it out fairly thick, probably ½ to ¾ of an inch thick. Cut out the biscuits and place on a greased cookie sheet. Let them rise for about an hour.. Cook at 350 until browned. These are great biscuits and I always double the recipe when I mix it up. Keep the dough in a covered bowl in the fridge until you want biscuits again. The biscuits should keep for several days in the fridge.
