1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy with mixer on low.
2.add egg, vanilla until smooth.
3. Combine flour, soda, cream of tartar in a separate bowl. Slowly add to creamed mixture.
4. Gather dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap and chill for one hour. Makes 1 to 2 dozen.
5. Preheat oven to 375º.
6.On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to desired thickness.
7. Use cut outs of your choice and place on cookie sheets.
8. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 min. till light brown.
9. Icing is best put on when the cookies are slightly warm to provide a melting effect on the cookie. Frosting recipe: 1/2 stick margarine, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 tablespoon warm milk, add powdered sugar and coloring to desired texture.
