1 lb. chopped nuts
1/2 c. sugar
1 lb. butter
1 pkg. phylo leaves

Syrup:
2 c. sugar
1 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix chopped nuts with 1/2 c. sugar and set aside. Melt butter and set aside. Place 1/2 pkg. of phylo leaves in bottom of 10X14 X2 cookie sheet pan. Put nut mixture on top.

Place other 1/2 pkg. of phylo leaves on top of nut layer. Cut in diamond shapes with sharp knife. Pour melted butter over entire top layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.


Combine sugar and water for syrup and boil for 15 minutes or until sticky while baking baklava.

Pour syrup over baklava after it comes out of the oven.

Let set for 24 hours.
