1 Cup Raisins
2 Cups Water
3/4 cup shortening
1/12 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cloves
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
boil raisins and water until raisins are plump (about 15 minutes). Drain and save liquid. Add enough water to the reserved liquid to measure 1/2 cup. Cream shortening and sugar together. In a seperate bowl whisk eggs until frothy then stir in vanilla and reserved water. Stir into creamed mixture. In a seperate bowl combine dry ingredients. Make a well. Scrape creamed mixture into the well. Stir. Fold in Raisins. Shape into balls and place on cooking sheet lined with parchment paper.


Heat oven to 400ºF. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. 6 1/2 dozen
