20 to 25 - 4 inch cukes
1/8 teaspoons powdered alum
1 clove garlic
2 heads of dill
1 hot red pepper
1 quart cider vinegar
1 cup coarse salt
3 quarts water
2 tablespoons pickling spice

Directions:
Directions:
Let cukes stand over night in cold water. To each quart add alum, garlic, dill and red pepper. Combine vinegar, salt, and water, bring to a boil and fill jars. Seal.
