1 cup finely cubed, pared, tart apples 1/4 cup seedless raisins, Grandma (Anna Mae McDowell) always omitted the raisins). 3/4 cup soft bread crumbs, 3/4 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tbsp. granulatued sugar 1 tbs. minced onion 2 tbs. butter 3 tbs. hot water 4 rib pork chops..1 1/2" thick salt & pepper to taste 1/2 cup water

Mix 1st 5 ingredients..Saute' onion tender in butter in skillet. Add to 1st mixture. Sprinkle on hot water, mix well. Make slit from bone side of chops, almost to fat side, cutting a pocket. Salt and pepper chops inside & out. Stuff loosely with apple mixture; brown chops WELL on both sides in same skillet; stir to dissolve brown particles. Place in greased 2 qt. casserole. Add 1/2 cup water to drippings in skillet; stir to dissolve brown particles. Pour over chops. Cover; bake in moderate oven of 350 degrees..1 hr.; uncover last 15 min. Makes 4 servings. for 2..1/2 each ingredient; make as directed in 1 qt. casserole.

This was a dish..that my and Maggie Mae's grandmother (Anna Mae McDowell) made for us..she never used the raisins and the dish was wonderful..the recipe came from her cook book Good Housekeeping 1942 edition.
