Directions: |
Directions:First boil pinto beans with the ham hocks. When the beans are soft (over one hour) then add the onions, garlic, celery, savory and green beans. In a separate bowl make a smooth paste with the flour and half & half. This is where you will need to play around with the measurements to make it smooth and as thick as pancake batter. When green beans are soft, then add this mixture as well as the apple cider. Keep checking flavor ; add more savory and salt to taste. Guten Apetit! |

Notes: Grandma came over to my house and I asked her to make her bread, chicken paprikash and this soup so that I could learn how to make these wonderful dishes. I have made this soup several times...and it is one of my favorites. Of course, you will have to play around with the measurements a bit because Grandma was hard to pin down with exact measurements. She seemed to cook as if she was performing magic..culinary magic!! and it was to all of us who tasted her wonderful dishes!!
