2 lb. Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled
3 c. heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
1 t. kosher salt
1/8 t. freshly ground black pepper
Pinch of nutmeg
3/4 c. finely shredded Gruyere, Emmental or Comte Cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Cut potatoes into 1/8 inch slices.
Put potatoes in large saucepan. Add the cream, garlic, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Give the slices a gentle stir. Cook over over medium-hi heat, stirring occasionally until cream boils. Immediately pour the mixture into a 3qt. baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese.
Bake until top is golden brown, about 40 minutes. Let sit at least 15 minutes before servings.
