Directions:Follow directions on frozen dough package to thaw and allow to rise one loaf of frozen dough per kettle or Dutch oven. If it is a larger size pot it my require more dough. After dough has risen cut into 4 to 5 pieces and roll out with small amount of flour. Add pieces of fruit with sugar per your own taste. Make sure the sugar does not get to the perimeter of the bread dough as it will deter the bread dough from sealing when you make the dumpling. Bring edges of the bread dough together and seal. You should have 4 to 5 larger dumplings. Rub a sufficient amount of lard in a Dutch oven or regular kettle to entirely cover the inside surface of the Dutch oven or kettle. Turn the burner on the stove to low. Place covered kettle on the burner and let it set for four hours. Stoves may vary but if any adjustments are made to the temperature make sure they are slight as it will not take much to burn the dumplings! |

Notes: This came by a lot of trial and error and there still may be some to work out. I am passing on a little more than Grandma, God bless her - she was a great cook and a lot of the great things she made were not written down and were a product of experience and her talent for cooking.
