2 c. White sugar
1 c. Shortening
1 tsp. Salt (optional)
2 Eggs
1 c. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Baking soda
4 1/2 c. Flour
Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs and vanilla. Put soda in buttermilk and add to the combined sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients (flour and baking powder). Chill dough. Bake at 375º until a light golden brown.
