18 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 sticks of butter or margarine
3 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 c sugar
1 large can of evaporated milk
1 c nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl combine the first 3 ingredients. In a large sauce pan combine the sugar and milk. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium to medium high heat until the mixture come to a full boil. Lower heat and cook exactly 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour the hot mixture into the chocolate mixture in the bowl and stir until all the chocolate chips and butter are melted. Add nuts to taste. Spread in a large casserole dish (3 qt). Let set 6 hours. This recipe makes a large amount but will keep for a couple of weeks in the refrigerator.
