8 jumbo eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup vegetable oil (Wesson)
2 cups sugar
1 3 oz bottle Anise extract
4 1/2 - 5 cups flour
8 level tsp baking powder

Blend eggs, oil, sugar and extract. Place in bowl and add 4 1/2 cups of the flour and all the baking powder. Mix with hand. If batter too runny, add the remaining 1/2 cup. Let batter rest. "It will bubble a little. Don't mix anymore" (Aunt Anna's quote) Use a tablespoon and form into rows on greased cookie sheet (Use Crisco). Bake on bottom rack, then move to top rack. Take out loaves, slice on diagonal, return to sheet on top rack for a few minutes. Turn to even browning.

Variations:
Use vanilla instead of anise. Add chocolate chips or dip in chocolate. Add anise seeds if using the anise extract. Can substitute anise oil for extract. Can be purchased at pharmacies.
