1 c. seedless raisins
1 c. water
3/4 c. soft shortening (Crisco)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. (give or take) flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves (optional)
2 c. rolled oats (oatmeal)
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat for 30 minutes. Drain raisin liquid water into measuring cup. Add water to make 1/2 c. Heat over until medium hot.

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid of 1/2 c. Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. Stir in raisins, oatmeal & nuts.

Drop rounded teaspoonful 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 7 dozen (84 cookies)

I usually spray my cookie sheet with Pam or other cooking spray.
