3 T. boiling water
2 oz. sweet cooking chocolate
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. plus 2 T. margarine or butter, softened
2 egg yolks
1/2 t. vanilla
1 c. cake flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/8 t. salt
1/4 c. plus 2 T. buttermilk
2 egg whites
Caramel Topping:
1/2 c. butter
1 pkg (14 oz) vanilla caramels
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Topping:
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1 pkg. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water on chocolate, stirring until melted; cool. Grease and flour a 9 x13 pan.
Beat sugar & margarine until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time. Beat in chocolate mixture & vanilla on low speed. Mix in flour, baking soda & salt, alternating with buttermilk, beating after each addition until batter is smooth. Beat egg whites until stiff, fold into batter. Pour into pan.
Bake about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
For caramel topping, heat butter, vanilla caramels & sweetened condensed milk over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Spread caramel topping over hot cake; sprinkle with chocolate chips & pecans. Bake about 15 minutes longer until chips melt. Cool before serving.
