4 – 41/2 pound whole chicken
1 12 ounce can beer

Directions:
Mix all ingredients for the rub. Sprinkle the rub inside chicken cavity and on the outside of the chicken. Pour ½ cup of beer from can. Hold chicken upright, with opening of body cavity down, insert beer can into cavity. Balance chicken in can on gas grill. (Wal-Mart sells a stainless steel stand with a base that holds the can upright and prevents the chicken from tipping over.) Cook over low heat for approximately 1 ½ hours or until a meat thermometer reads 180 and the juice is no longer pink. Remove from grill and can. Let stand 15 minutes before carving.
