1 1/2 cups egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cake flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift 1/2 cup of sugar. Add to flour and sift 3 times. Beat egg whites to a foam. Add salt, cream of tartar, and vanilla. Continue beating egg whites until they are stiff enough to hold soft peaks that bend over. Gradually add sugar and fold in lightly. Then add flour/sugar mixture slowly. Fold in gently until it is all in. Pour cake into ungreased tube pan. Bake at 375º for 35 minutes.
