1 ½ cups sifted all purpose flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. Salt
1 cup pitted dates
1 cup candied cherries (3/4 cup red, ¼ cup greed)
2 cups walnuts
½ cup chocolate pieces
3 eggs
1 cup sugar

Set oven at 325 degrees. Grease 9x5x3 inch loaf pan or 3 smaller loaf pans. Line with wax paper and grease the paper. Stir flour, baking powder, and salt together. Cut or chop dates, cherries and nuts. Mix with chocolate pieces. Beat eggs until foamy. Add sugar gradually and continue beating until light and smooth. Stir in flour mix, then the fruit, nuts, chocolate combination. Pour into pan and back 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours until tester comes out free. Bake about 45 minutes for smaller cakes. Cool for about 20 minutes in pan, then remove and cool completely. Wrapped in foil, this cake keeps beautifully for one to two months in the refrigerator or freezer.
