6 large cooking apples
1/4 cup currants
1 or 2 pounds of sausages, either beef or pork
1 wineglass of red wine
2 or 3 T. sugar
cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cook the sausages in water, then in the oven until nicely browned. Cover the sausages with pieces of apple, peeled, quartered and sprinkled with sugar, cinnamon and currants. Put a lid on the pan and cook gently in a 350ºF oven. When the apples are tender lift them and the sausages from the pan into a serving dish, pour the wine into the pan, stir it carefully into the juices, boil for a second then pour over the sausages and apples. Serve with mashed potatoes, a vegetable and a green salad.
