8 cups sliced apples (about 8 medium)
1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup oats
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
2/3 cup butter, softened

Arrange apples in 9 x 13-inch pan. Mix remaining ingredients; sprinkle over apples.

Bake at 375º F until topping is golden brown and apples are tender, about 30 minutes.

This is a doubled version of the Betty Crocker recipe. Anne's current favourite variation is to use 6 cups rhubarb and 2 cups apples instead of 8 cups apples. Or 6 cups apples and 2 cups cranberries.
