Directions:Pour water, oatmeal, margarine, and bouillon in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes. (WARNING: Anyone who smells these biscuits baking will want to eat them) Allow to cool and dry out until hard. They may need to sit out uncovered for a couple of days to get really hard or they may be put in a low temperature oven to dry out more once they are baked. Be sure dog biscuits are hard and dry before packaging or putting in a sealed container. If they still contain moisture, they will get moldy if stored for very long. You can also make kibble or little bribes by patting or rolling dough about a 1/2 inch thick one a greased baking sheet and then cutting it into 1/2 squares. As they cook turn or toss with a spatula. Another though- This recipe would also make great teething biscuits for a baby. |

Notes: I first used this recipes with nursing home residents. We had fun making the dog biscuits and then sold them to raise money for a near by soup kitchen. Most dogs loved the biscuits so we had many repeat customers. Scout troups, classes or families may enjoy making these biscuits to sell as a fund raiser or to donate to an animal shelter. No dog ever refused a treat because it was made by children or an unknown person (which is an issue with some people regarding bake sales!)
