2/3 c. soft shortening (part butter)
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 lg. egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. real milk chocolate chips, 6 oz.

Pre-heat oven to 375º. Mix well the following: shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sift the dry ingredients together and stir. Add the 2 mixtures together and stir in the chocolate chips. Drop rounded teaspoons of the mixture about 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet. Makes 4-5 dozen 2 inch cookies. If they become dry, add 1-2 tablespoons of water.
