1/2 cup warm water
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1/3 cup shortening or butter
4 1/4 to 4 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup milk, lukewarm
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Soak yeast in warm water (NOT HOT) for 5 minutes. Pour milk over sugar and salt in a bowl. Stir to dissolve. Add shortening, eggs, 1 cup flour and softened yeast. Beat until smooth. Add remaining flour, gradually to form a soft dough. Knead dough until it becomes smooth, elastic, about 5 minutes. Put in lightly greased bowl. Grease top. Let rise in warm place for about 1 hour, or until double in bulk. Form rolls and put on greased cookie sheet. Let rise again until double in size. Bake for 15-18 minutes. Brush top with butter when you take them out of the oven.
Cloverleaf rolls: Form tiny balls of dough and put three in each greased muffin tin. Proceed as above.
