Ham bone with some meat left on (leftovers after dinner works great)
3 cans black beans
3-4 Tbls beef soup base
1 cup quick cook barley

Directions:
Directions:
In a crock pot, add ham bone and fill ¾ full with water.
Add beef soup base to taste, about 3-4 tbls.
Cook on high for 3 to four hours.
Remove the ham bone and add beans and barley.
Cook one hour on low.
Add ham removed from bone and serve with corn bread or biscuits.
