2 c. butter
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 2/3 c. brown sugar
1 T. vanilla
4 eggs
5 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. chopped pecans

Cut 4 12x14 pieces of wax paper. In a large bowl cream together butter & sugar. Beat in vanilla & eggs until light & fluffy. In a large bowl combine flour, salt & soda. Gradually stir in flour mixture into egg mixture until blended. Stir in nuts & chocolate pieces. Divide into 4 parts. Shape into 8-10" rolls. Wrap & freeze in container. Use within 6 months. Makes 4 rolls or 12 dozen cookies.

To bake, preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease 2 large baking sheets. Cut dough into 1/4" slices. Place on sheets 1/2" apart. Sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes, until edges start to turn brown. Remove from sheet. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 36 cookies, each roll.
