Ingredients: 6 rouladen 1 tsp prepared mustard per rouladen 2 large onions, sliced 6 slices dill pickle salt & pepper to taste 1 tbsp vegetable oil 1 cup water or beef broth 1 tbsp cornstarch 2 tbsp water

Directions:Lay meat pieces flat. Spread each with mustard. Divide onion slices among meat slices. Lay onion on meat along with a slice of bacon and a slice of dill pickle. Season with salt and pepper. Carefully roll up each piece of meat with filling inside. Fasten with a toothpick or tie with string. Brown rolls in oil. Place in a 2 quart ovenproof casserole. Add water to drippings, pour over the rolls and cover. Bake 300ºF for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove rouladen from casserole. Dissolve cornstarch in water. Stir into pan juices until thickened. Serve hot. This dish may be doubled and cooked in a crock pot. When using minute steaks, cut back on cooking time, by one hour. |

Notes: Pounded flank, round or sirlion steak may be used. Pound to 3x4" rectangles. Minute steaks work well when in a hurry.
