1 pound asparagus
1 tbs. extra virgin olive oil
salt
pepper

Preheat oven to 450º F. Rinse asparagus and cut off the tough bases. Put the asparagus in a roasting pan or large shallow baking dish so it makes one or two layers. Sprinkle evenly with 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt and pepper to taste; toss to distribute seasonings.

Roast uncovered, shaking asparagus once or twice to turn spears, about 12 minutes. When done, the asparagus should be crisp-tender.
