3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 pound (1 stick) butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/3 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
You can basically use any filling you like, preserves, chocolate, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour with baking powder - mix well. In a separate bowl mix butter and sugar (use electric mixer) until light and fluffy,add egg, mix again, add orange juice and vanilla -mix well.. Add flour mixture - mix well. Wrap dough in plastic, put in refrigerator for 30 - 50 min until firm. To shape Hamantaschen -thickness -3mm(1/8 inch thick) using cookie cutter. Put filling in the middle of circle. Press 3 edges together to make a triangle, leaving small opening in the center. Bake 15 -18 min @ 350 degrees F. ( or until golden on the bottom).

We make it every Rosh Hashana as a tradition for dessert. We all gather up and have dinner together. It tastes very yummy! It's my Grandma's recipe. I love it!
