1 cup butter, softened
12 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 oz. melted chocolate or Coco-Bake
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
3 Tblsp. finely chopped Maraschino cheries
2 drops red food coloring

Line loaf pan, (9X5X3") with aluminum foil. Mix butter, sugar, egg and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Divide into thirds. Stir chocolate and walnuts into one third. Stir cherries and food coloring into another third. Leave remaining third plain. Spread plain dough in pan. Top with chocolate dough, then with cherry dough. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Heat oven to 375º. Remove dough from pan; remove foil. Cut dough into 1/4" slices; cut each slice into halves. Place about 1 " apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, about 10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
