1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 c flour
1 T baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 c raisins (optional)

Topping: 6 T brown sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, flour, baking powder and salt and mix well. Mix in milk, vanilla and raisins (if desired). Divide mixture between 2 greased and floured 9" cake pans.
Mix topping and sprinkle half on each cake.
Bake @ 350º for 25-30 minutes.
