2 1/2 cups sugar
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
1 (16 oz.) can pumpkin
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cloves
** Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts

2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tbs milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

** NOTE: Makes 2 loaves of bread.

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Beat sugar, cream cheese and butter in large mixing bowl at medium speed with electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in pumpkin.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, baking powder and cloves in a small bowl. Add to wet ingredients and mix until just moistened. Fold in nuts if desired. Pour into TWO greased and floured 9x5 inch loaf pans.

Bake 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 5 minutes, remove from pans and onto wire racks.

While bread is baking make icing. Stir all icing ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.

Place wire racks with bread over some paper towels or wax paper. Drizzle cooled bread with icing and serve.
