2 cups milk Filling: (almond)
2 T. yeaste 1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 sugar 1/2 cup oats
3/4 shortening 2 tsp. almond flavoring
1 T. salt Filling (cream)
3 beaten eggs 1 cup milk 1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp. cardmon, ginger, cinnamon,or nutmeg 1 egg yolk 2 T flour
6-7 cups flour 1/2 tsp. salt

scald milk, add shortening and sugar. Cool to 120 degrees or luke warm. Add yeaste stir to dissolve. Sift 3 cups flour with walt and spices. Beat eggs. Add to yeast-milk mixture. Beat for three minutes. Add rest of flour. Knead to a soft ball. Let rise twice. Filling: Heat milk, add egg yolk to dry ing. Add milk a little at a time to dry ing. Stir until thick. Cover with plastic and cool. Make almong filling also and use both fillings. Roll dough out into a rectangle. Put filling down the center third of the rectangle. Cut two outside strips in horizontal strips. Then begin braiding by folding one strip from each side over the Filling, until you have formed a braid all the way down.
