2/3 cup margarine or butter softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
3 Tablespoons milk or water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Fillings: apricot preserves, peanut butter, chocolate chips and marshmallows, nuts, chopped apples.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with sugar. Add egg and cream until smooth. Add the milk or water and vanilla. Sift the flour and mix it with the mixture until a ball of dough is formed. Divide the dough in 2 cylinders approx 3 inches in diameter and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350

Using one cylinder of dough at a time, cut 1/8 inch slices of dough. Roll them out and place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center or each round. Fold three sides inward to make a triangle shape and pinch together carefully. Place the triangles on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Hamantashen represents Haman's hat. Haman's hat had three corners. Haman was a mean person who was a guard for the king and wanted to kill all the Jews but he was punished instead and that's why we make Hamantashen.
