1 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup shortening
scant 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water
1 beaten egg (2 eggs for cinnamon rolls)
scant 3 1/2 cups flour (or 2 white 1/1/4 whole wheat)

Directions:
Directions:
Add shortening, sugar and salt to the scalded milk. Cool. Add eggs and yeast. Mix in flour. Make a fairly soft dough. Let rise and punch down. Form into rolls. Let rise till double. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes (a minute or two makes a difference) Butter the top. Makes about 20 rolls.
Freezes well.
