1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
2 8 ounce packages cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
6 apples - peeled, and sliced (Granny Smith)
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup sliced almonds

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream butter, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla and flour. Press crust mixture into the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan. Prebake for 10 minutes. In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Beat in eggs and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat for about 5 minutes, until thin. Pour cheese mixture over crust. Toss apples with 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon. Spread apple mixture over all. Bake at 400º for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 375º and continue baking for 40 minutes. Sprinkle almonds over top of torte. Continue baking until lightly browned. Cool before removing from pan.
