1 c. heavy cream
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c white corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter
dash of salt
3/4c. pecans or toasted almonds,chopped opt.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cream and milk together. Put 3/4 c. of the mixture in heavy saucepan, add sugars, salt and corn syrup. Bring to boil over medium heat stirring to dissolve sugar. Put a candy thermometer in the pan and cook mixture to soft ball stage or 234 degrees. Very slowly add the remaining 3/4 c.milk and cream mixture so that it continues to boil while adding. Cook, stirring occasionally to 244 degrees or firm ball stage. Then remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter. Add nuts if desired. Pour into a buttered loaf pan till cool. Cut into squares and wrap in waxed paper squares
