3 cups sifted flour
1 3/4 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cocoa
1 c Crisco (lard)
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 egg
2 c apple sauce
1 c chopped nuts (walnuts or any nut will do)
1 c raisins
2 t vanilla

Directions:

Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cocoa. (set aside) Then cream Crisco, sugar, brown sugar, and egg. Add applesauce. Mix real well. Mix in dry ingredients. Add nuts, raisins, vanilla. Pour into baking dish. She didn't say what size. Probably 9x9 or 13. Bake at 325º oven for 1 hour. Serve with Grannies whipped cream. (straight from the cow)

My Grandmother past away in 1967, so I am not exactly sure about this recipe. I remember that it was one of her favorite. She always used home make applesauce. I have many wonderful memories of helping her in the kitchen.
