1 cup flour
¼ cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
1 cup yellow corn meal
2 eggs
1 cup milk
¼ cup soft shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Stir first 5 ingredients together. Add eggs, milk, and shortening and stir together. Beat all of the above w/ beater just until smooth, about one minute (do not over beat).
Pour into 9x9x2 , greased cake pan (can use 8x8x2 also)
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 -25 minutes.

Grampa loved to serve his cornbread with LOTS of real butter -- so it was soaked in butter!! This is the BEST cornbread recipe EVER!!!!
