3 T. pan drippings from fried chicken, steak, etc.
3 T. (rounded) flour
2 C. milk diluted with some water
Salt and pepper to taste

Melt fat over heat and add flour, stirring until brown and smooth. Add salt and pepper. Add cold liquid all at once and cook, stirring constantly, until thick. May add more liquid if gravy is too thick. Cook over direct heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
