1/2 c. butter
1 c. water
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
4 eggs

Filling: (Mom's vanilla pudding recipe)
1/3 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. milk
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c whipping cream

Preheat oven to 450º. In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 c. butter and 1 c. water. Bring to a boil, stirring until butter melts completely. Reduce heat to low, and add flour and salt. Stir vigorously until mixture leaves the sides of the pan and begins to form a stiff ball. Remove from heat. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well to incorporate completely after each addition. Spoon dough onto cookie sheet in 1 1/2 x 4 inch strips. (or just throw some globs of dough down like me) Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce heat to 325º and bake 20 minutes more until hollow sounding. Completely cool on a wire rack.

Filling:
Mix sugar, flour, cornstarch, and salt in saucepan. stir in milk. Turn on medium high heat and bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Cook for a few minutes, take off burner. Put 1 tbls of mixture in with beaten egg yolk and mix with a fork. Pour back in pan and stir. Bring back to a boil. Take of burner and add vanilla, mix until smooth. Fold in Whipping cream.
